The Advantages of Verbal Conversation:

Lip Reading
Lip Reading is a specialised technique used by deaf people to understand spoken words and speech by reading the movement of the speaker's lips.

- Watching the movements of the mouth, teeth and tongue
- Reading the expression of the speaker's face

- Can help you socialise better and become more engaged in conversations

The Disadvantages of Lip Reading:
- Lip Reading needs continuous focus and concentration, which can make it very tiring after a while
- You need regular practise before you become an expert at it, so lots of training is needed beforehand.
Sign Language
Sign Language is a method of communication which uses hand movements and other gestures to signal a message or deliver information effectively. Sign Language is also used by deaf of hard of hearing people. Sing Language is quite technical and can take a long time to learn every gesture and sign.
The Advantages of Sign Language:
- Can be a quicker way of communication with others
- Helps deaf or hard of hearing individuals to communicate on a day to day basis.
The Disadvantages of Sign Language:
- Takes a lot of training to become very good at performing sign language
- Can easily be misinterpreted or misread; creating difficulties in communication.
