Data Protection Act (DPA) was a law created in 1998 (around the time more and more organisations where using computers to store and process personal information) being designed to protect this personal data being stored.
The 1998 Data Protection Act was passed by Parliament to control the way information is handled and to give legal rights to people who have their personal information collected and saved.
